Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal on Friday inaugurated the India International Model United Nations (IIMUN) Conference 2025 in Noida and made an emphatic call to India’s youth: become the transformers, catalysts, and leaders of a developed India by 2047.

Addressing a large gathering of students and young leaders, Shri Goyal underscored the vision laid out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Panch Pran’ (Five Pledges), which serve as a roadmap for India’s journey during the Amrit Kaal — the 25-year period leading to the 100th anniversary of Indian independence in 2047

Call to Youth: Commit to Building a Developed India by 2047

Shri Goyal urged India’s young population to see themselves not just as beneficiaries but as active architects of a future-ready India. “You are the change-makers, the inspirers, and the drivers of tomorrow’s India,” he said, emphasizing that their involvement is crucial for the nation’s transformation.

Five Pledges Are the Guiding Force of Amrit Kaal

He elaborated on the Panch Pran announced by PM Modi on 15 August 2022:

  • First Pledge: Commitment to transform India into a developed nation.
  • Second: Freedom from colonial mindsets that limit national ambition.
  • Third: Pride in India’s rich heritage, traditions, and culture.
  • Fourth: Unity and integrity as the bedrock of progress.
  • Fifth: Citizen responsibility — a collective resolve of 1.4 billion Indians to contribute to nation-building.

“Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi”: Development with Heritage

Goyal stressed that modern development should go hand-in-hand with India’s cultural roots. “Our diversity is our strength. We must integrate our rich traditions into the journey of collective progress,” he said.

Public Participation and Political Engagement Encouraged

Referring to PM Modi’s 2024 Independence Day speech, Goyal reiterated the call for one lakh young citizens to step into public service and politics. “We need individuals with compassion, dedication, and vision to participate in policymaking,” he added.

Teachers as Nation Builders

Recognizing the often-overlooked role of educators, Shri Goyal called teachers and mentors the shapers of future citizens and future India. “Their guidance during school and college years becomes one of life’s most valuable, lasting relationships,” he said.

📣 India on the Brink of Historic Transformation

Calling the Amrit Kaal a defining moment, Shri Goyal emphasized that India stands on the threshold of unprecedented change — economically, socially, and globally. The youth, he said, must imagine not just the next few years, but the next few decades.

He reminded students that the journey toward 2047 demands commitment, creativity, and compassion, and that the country’s progress must be inclusive and sustainable, especially by taking care of the marginalized and underprivileged.

🗨️ Quote from Shri Piyush Goyal:

“I invite you to be the transformers, motivators, and drivers of tomorrow’s India. With collective resolve, we can overcome every challenge and take our nation to greater heights.”

Shri Piyush Goyal’s message was clear: The responsibility to build a developed India cannot rest on the government alone. It requires active, committed, and empowered youth. The Panch Pran, he said, are not just ideals — they are action principles that every Indian must internalize and act upon.

The IIMUN platform, which unites students from across India and abroad, was hailed as an ideal stage to cultivate leadership, public service values, and civic consciousness in the next generation of Indians.
