The flagship programme aims to boost entrepreneurship and economic self-reliance across Jammu & Kashmir, as the Bank crosses a major milestone in youth-focused financial inclusion.

Srinagar (Economy India): In a significant push towards youth empowerment and economic transformation in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, J&K Bank has sanctioned loans to 10,000 young beneficiaries under the government’s flagship Mission Yuva programme. The initiative aims to support aspiring youth in establishing sustainable business ventures and achieving financial independence.

According to an official statement released by the Bank, this achievement marks a crucial milestone in the UT’s broader strategy to empower its young population through accessible credit support, entrepreneurship guidance, and institutional backing.

A Major Boost to Youth Entrepreneurship

Mission Yuva, launched by the J&K government, seeks to bridge financial gaps faced by young entrepreneurs by helping them secure credit for setting up micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

J&K Bank—being the largest financial institution in the region—has been playing a pivotal role in converting this vision into on-ground economic opportunities.

A spokesperson of the Bank noted that the scheme has been designed to “make youth economically self-reliant by providing them timely and affordable financial support.”

Close Coordination Between Bank and Government

Under Mission Yuva, the Bank has been closely collaborating with various government departments, district-level committees, and entrepreneurship development cells to identify eligible youth and fast-track their loan applications.

The synergy between the government’s policy push and the Bank’s credit delivery mechanism has enabled:

  • Faster loan sanctioning
  • Simplified documentation
  • On-ground handholding for first-time entrepreneurs
  • Region-wide awareness drives on employment generation schemes

This joint approach has helped thousands of young people across urban and rural areas to take their first steps toward setting up their own income-generating units.

Transforming Youth Aspirations Into Economic Assets

Officials believe that Mission Yuva will serve as a long-term catalyst for economic revival in J&K by:

  • Enhancing employability
  • Creating local enterprise networks
  • Reducing dependency on salaried jobs
  • Encouraging innovation and self-started business models

With 10,000 loan sanctions already completed, the programme is expected to significantly contribute to the UT’s employment generation roadmap for 2025 and beyond.

Part of a Broader Financial Inclusion Strategy

J&K Bank’s role under Mission Yuva aligns with its ongoing strategy to expand financial inclusion and extend credit to underserved segments of society. The Bank has been actively involved in government-sponsored employment schemes, including:

  • Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP)
  • NRLM self-help group financing
  • Start-up assistance for young innovators

By supporting thousands of youth, the Bank continues to strengthen its positioning as a key institutional partner in the UT’s socio-economic development.
