Flagship bilateral platform to bring senior government leaders, industry CEOs, energy experts and green-tech innovators together for shaping next-generation sustainability partnerships.
NEW DELHI (Economy India): India and Sweden are gearing up for a major diplomatic and industrial engagement as global sustainability leaders, industry experts, and government delegates meet in Mumbai on December 11 for the India–Sweden Sustainability Day 2025. The flagship event will focus on climate action, green innovation, net-zero strategies, and sustainable industrial growth, marking a significant step toward strengthening bilateral cooperation in clean technologies and environmental solutions.
Organised by Business Sweden, in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden and the Consulate General of Sweden, this will be the third edition of the Sustainability Day initiative. This year’s theme emphasizes building a “transformative chapter” in India–Sweden industrial partnership with special focus on energy transition, clean manufacturing, circular economy, and future-ready green industries.

A Strategic Platform for Green Partnerships
According to the official statement, the event will bring together top executives, policymakers, investors, and sector specialists from both countries to explore collaborative opportunities across sectors such as:
- Clean energy & renewable technologies
- Sustainable manufacturing & supply chains
- Green mobility & electric transport ecosystems
- Waste-to-energy & circular economy solutions
- Industrial decarbonization & net-zero pathways
Delegates are expected to discuss innovation-led strategies to support India’s growing demand for green technologies and Sweden’s commitment to promoting global sustainability leadership.
India–Sweden: A Strong Climate Partnership
India and Sweden share a long-standing commitment to climate cooperation. The partnership became more prominent with the joint launch of the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) in 2019, aimed at accelerating net-zero transitions in hard-to-abate industries such as cement, steel, and heavy manufacturing.
The upcoming forum will further boost:
- Technology transfer for clean industrialization
- Joint investments in green R&D
- Strengthening green value chains between the two economies
- Scaling climate-smart solutions for Indian markets
With India targeting net zero by 2070 and Sweden by 2045, both nations view industrial collaboration as key to achieving global climate goals.
Why the 2025 Edition Matters
The 2025 Sustainability Day gains importance in the backdrop of:
- Rising global pressure to meet COP28 climate commitments
- Increasing corporate demand for low-carbon supply chains
- India’s fast-growing renewable and green hydrogen sector
- Sweden’s expertise in smart industrial systems and clean tech
Industry stakeholders expect major announcements around partnerships in automation, digital sustainability tools, energy storage, and green infrastructure.
Business leaders believe the event can become a catalyst for long-term bilateral economic cooperation, especially as India positions itself as a global manufacturing hub under “Make in India” and sustainability-driven FDI grows.
The India–Sweden Sustainability Day 2025 in Mumbai is set to strengthen bilateral ties and accelerate global sustainability efforts through meaningful collaboration, innovation, and industry-government partnership. With both countries prioritizing climate action and green industrial growth, the event promises to deliver strategic insights, new alliances, and actionable pathways to a net-zero future.
