Chief Minister praises Ramakrishna Mission’s service in remote Abujhmarh region, urges students to pursue learning with discipline and focus

Raipur (Economy India): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday underlined the transformative power of education, stating that human life remains incomplete without education, as it empowers individuals to think independently, resist exploitation, and contribute meaningfully to society.

Addressing students at a programme held at the indoor stadium of Ramakrishna Mission Ashram in Narayanpur, the Chief Minister said education creates a clear distinction between an informed and an uninformed individual.

“An uneducated person becomes vulnerable to exploitation, while an educated person uses wisdom and reason to move forward continuously in life,” Sai said.

Students Must Treat This Phase as the Time for Learning

Motivating students to study with dedication, the Chief Minister emphasised that the student phase is meant for focused learning and character building.

Quoting a Sanskrit shloka defining the qualities of an ideal student, he said:

Alpa-hārī gṛha-tyāgī vidyārthī pañca-lakṣaṇam”

Explaining its meaning, Sai said an ideal student must possess perseverance, concentration, alertness, discipline and simplicity, and urged students to set clear goals and pursue them with unwavering focus.

“Fulfil the dreams of your parents and dedicate yourselves to the service of the state and the nation,” he added.

Financial Constraints Will Not Obstruct Higher Education: CM

Interacting with students of the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, the Chief Minister assured them that financial hardship would not be allowed to become a barrier to education.

He highlighted several initiatives of the Chhattisgarh government, including:

  • Hostels for students
  • Scholarships and merit-based incentive schemes
  • Education loans for higher studies
  • Nalanda Campus, supporting preparation for competitive examinations

“Every talented student deserves an opportunity to progress, regardless of economic background,” Sai said.

Ramakrishna Mission’s Work in Remote Areas Highly Commendable

The Chief Minister praised the selfless service of Ramakrishna Mission, especially its work in Abujhmarh and other remote tribal regions.

“Providing education in difficult and interior areas like Abujhmarh is a remarkable service. The Mission’s contribution extends beyond education to agriculture and social welfare,” he noted.

He said the Mission has completed 40 years of continuous service in the region, calling it a significant achievement in nation-building at the grassroots level.

Maoist-Affected Areas Witnessing Rapid Development

Referring to the region’s past challenges, Sai said fear once prevailed due to Maoist activities, discouraging development efforts. However, the situation is now improving steadily.

He informed that under the Niyad Nellanar Yojana, development works have begun in over 400 villages, ensuring:

  • Road connectivity
  • Electricity supply
  • Drinking water facilities

In addition, residents are now receiving essential documents such as ration cards, Aadhaar cards and Ayushman Bharat health cards, strengthening social security and governance outreach.
