New Delhi I (Economy India): In a significant political and historic development, Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh on Tuesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Parliament House, New Delhi, and extended a formal invitation to inaugurate the newly-constructed Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha building.

The meeting was described as warm and cordial, reflecting the close ties between the state leadership and the Centre. Dr. Singh emphasized that the inauguration of the new Assembly by Prime Minister Modi would be a proud moment for the entire state, particularly at a time when Chhattisgarh is celebrating its Silver Jubilee year of statehood.

A Milestone in State’s Democratic Journey

The Speaker underlined that the new Assembly building is not merely an infrastructural project but a landmark that represents the democratic aspirations of over 3 crore citizens of Chhattisgarh.

“The new Assembly building will stand as a symbol of the state’s democratic journey and growing identity. It will be an honour for every member of the Vidhan Sabha to have this historic institution inaugurated by the Prime Minister himself,” Dr. Singh said after the meeting.

New Building, New Aspirations

The new Vidhan Sabha complex, designed with modern facilities, aims to provide a technologically advanced and efficient environment for legislative functioning. Officials said it will be equipped with state-of-the-art chambers, digital support systems, and infrastructure reflecting both tradition and modernity.

This move also signifies Chhattisgarh’s progress over the past 25 years, evolving from a resource-rich but developing state into an emerging hub of governance and policy innovation.

National Significance

Political analysts believe that Prime Minister Modi’s possible presence at the inauguration would not only add national significance to the event but also highlight the Centre’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions in the states. The event is expected to be attended by senior political leaders, lawmakers, and dignitaries from across the country.

The proposed inauguration ceremony is likely to be scheduled later this year, coinciding with the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the state’s formation.
