NEW DELHI (Economy India): Anurag Singh Thakur addressed students at MIT World Peace University, Pune, during the ‘Viksit Bharat Ambassador – Yuva Connect’ initiative, encouraging the youth to actively participate in building a self-reliant and developed India. He emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ and the need to shed colonial mindsets.

Engaging Youth for Nation Building

Anurag Thakur, speaking as the Chief Guest at the event, reiterated the Prime Minister’s call to transform India into a developed nation. He said, “The concept of a developed India is not just about economic growth, but about a change in mindset that will help us overcome the colonial legacy.” He encouraged the youth to become ambassadors of this mission and contribute actively to the country’s progress.

‘Viksit Bharat Ambassador – Yuva Connect’ Initiative

The initiative aims to connect with students across various colleges in Maharashtra and inspire them to contribute to nation-building. It features interactive sessions to guide young minds on their role in achieving the vision of a developed India. The event at MIT World Peace University, Kothrud, Pune, marked one such effort to bridge the gap between students and policymakers.

Dignitaries Present at the Event

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Myers MIT Institute Trustee Rahul Karad, MIT World Peace University Vice-Chancellor Dr. R. M. Chitnis, and National Skating Champion Jinesh Nanal. Youth Ambassador Kritika Bhandari, who is leading the ‘Viksit Bharat’ campaign, was also present, emphasizing the youth’s role in this initiative.

Key Highlights of the Program

As a symbolic gesture, the program began with the planting of saplings in the campus under the Central Government’s ‘Ek Ped Maa ke Naam’ initiative, promoting environmental consciousness. Following this, Anurag Thakur paid floral tributes at the statue of Sant Dnyaneshwar within the campus.

Dr. R. M. Chitnis, Vice-Chancellor of MIT World Peace University, welcomed the dignitaries, while Kritika Bhandari urged students to register themselves on the ‘My Bharat’ portal, managed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The portal serves as a platform for youth to contribute ideas and engage in national development activities.

Inspiration from Sports

National Skating Champion Jinesh Nanal shared his inspiring journey with the students, discussing the challenges and achievements in his sports career. He encouraged them to be resilient and aim for excellence, not just in sports but in all fields of life.

The ‘Viksit Bharat Ambassador – Yuva Connect’ initiative is a step towards realizing the dream of a self-reliant and developed India by involving young minds.
