MUMBAI (Economy India): The Adani Group has secured a major contract to supply 6,600 MW of hybrid solar and thermal power to Maharashtra. The contract was awarded by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), marking a significant step in renewable energy initiatives for the state. This includes 5,000 MW of solar power, making it the largest solar power supply agreement in the world since 2020.
Adani Group Secures 6,600 MW Power Supply Contract
The Adani Group, through its renewable energy arm Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), has won a contract to supply 6,600 megawatts (MW) of hybrid solar and thermal power to Maharashtra. The official “Letter of Intent” for this deal was issued by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), further cementing Adani’s commitment to expanding clean energy infrastructure in India.
World’s Largest Solar Power Agreement Post-2020
Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) will supply 5,000 MW of solar power to Maharashtra under a long-term power purchase agreement with MSEDCL. This project, which is part of AGEL’s 50 GW renewable energy target, is one of the largest solar supply deals globally since 2020. The power will be supplied from the company’s renewable energy park being developed in Khavda, located in Gujarat’s Kutch district.
Thermal Power Supply by Adani Power
In addition to solar power, Adani Power Limited, another entity of the Adani Group, will supply 1,496 MW of thermal power to Maharashtra. This will be facilitated through a long-term agreement with MSEDCL. The thermal power will be generated from Adani Power’s 1,600 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power project.

The power supply for Maharashtra will come from the renewable energy park being developed in Khavda, Gujarat.
