Three Women Arrested for Stealing ₹1 Lakh Worth of Copper Cables

SHARESHARESHARESHARE

Palghar, Maharashtra (Economy India): Police have arrested three women for allegedly stealing copper cables worth more than 1 lakh from a power house construction site in Maharashtra‘s Palghar district, officials said on Tuesday.

According to the police, the theft took place during the intervening night of June 18 and June 19 at a construction site in the Vasai area, where work on a power house project was in progress.

Theft at Construction Site

The accused allegedly entered the construction site under the cover of darkness and stole valuable copper cables used for electrical infrastructure. The theft caused financial losses and disrupted work at the project site.

After the incident was reported, police launched an investigation by examining CCTV footage, gathering local intelligence, and tracking the suspects.

Three Women Taken into Custody

Following the investigation, police identified and arrested three women allegedly involved in the theft. Officials are questioning the accused to determine whether they were part of a larger theft network or acted independently.

Police are also trying to recover the stolen copper cables and identify any buyers who may have purchased the stolen material.

Investigation Continues

Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigations are underway to determine if the accused were involved in similar thefts in the region.

Police have appealed to scrap dealers and local businesses to verify the source of copper and other metal materials before making purchases.

Conclusion

The arrest of the three women marks a significant breakthrough in the Palghar copper cable theft case. As the investigation continues, police are working to recover the stolen property and uncover any wider network connected to the crime.
