Bhubaneswar (Economy India): Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday said that the Union Budget 2026–27 will strengthen the foundation for building a Viksit Bharat and open new avenues for Odisha’s overall development.
Addressing a press conference in Bhubaneswar, Pradhan said the budget places special emphasis on inclusive growth, infrastructure expansion and future-ready sectors, which will significantly benefit eastern India, particularly Odisha.

He highlighted the government’s ‘Purvodaya’ initiatives, stating that they aim to position Odisha as a key growth engine of the national economy by focusing on the emerging needs of a new-age economy. The initiatives are designed to accelerate industrial development, enhance connectivity, promote skill development and attract investments to the state.
“The Union Budget reflects the government’s commitment to balanced regional development. With targeted policy support and focused investments, Odisha is set to play a crucial role in India’s growth story,” Pradhan said.
He added that the budget’s focus on education, skill development, manufacturing and infrastructure will empower youth, strengthen local enterprises and create employment opportunities across the state.
The minister said the Centre remains committed to working closely with the Odisha government to ensure effective implementation of budgetary provisions and transform the state into a major hub for growth and innovation in eastern India.
