Bilaspur (Economy India): Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to youth-led development, Chhattisgarh Chief MinisterShri Vishnu Deo Saion Monday said that young people are the true future of both the state and the nation, and their empowerment is central to Chhattisgarh’s long-term growth strategy.
The Chief Minister was addressing the inauguration ceremony of the three-day Chhattisgarh State Youth Festival at Bahtarai Stadium, Bilaspur, an event aimed at identifying, nurturing and promoting youth talent across sports, culture and literature.

Khelo India Tribal Games 2026: Mascot, Torch and Theme Song Unveiled
A major highlight of the event was the official unveiling of the mascot ‘Mor Veer’, the theme song, and the Khelo India Torch for the upcoming Khelo India Tribal Games, Chhattisgarh–2026. The Chief Minister remotely unveiled the symbols, marking a key milestone in the state’s preparation for hosting the national-level tribal sports event.
The torch was jointly unveiled by women kabaddi player Sanju Devi and athletics player Amit Kumar, symbolising gender inclusivity and youth participation in sports.
Paying tribute to youth icon Swami Vivekananda, CM Sai offered floral respects to his statue and highlighted the philosopher’s vision of youth-led nation building.
Special Focus on Sports, Tribal Talent and Cultural Heritage
The inauguration ceremony witnessed a captivating Mallakhamb performance by athletes from the Abujhmad region, showcasing the deep-rooted sporting talent of Chhattisgarh’s tribal belts.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the youth festival is not merely a cultural event but a strategic platform to provide national exposure to young talent, especially from rural and tribal regions.
“Our government is fully committed to advancing youth in education, employment, skill development and sports. This festival provides a powerful platform for young people to showcase their abilities and move towards national recognition,” CM Sai said.

In a significant boost to sports promotion, the Chief Minister announced:
₹1 lakh incentive for Mallakhamb athletes

Full sponsorship of international travel expenses for Mallakhamb athlete Anatai Potai, selected for America’s Got Talent
These initiatives aim to encourage youth participation in traditional and modern sports while providing global exposure.
Over 3,000 Youth Participate from Across the State
More than 3,000 young participants from across Chhattisgarh are taking part in the festival, competing in 14 cultural and literary disciplines, including:
Folk dance and folk music
Debate and creative writing
Painting and poetry
Winners of the festival will represent Chhattisgarh at the National Youth Festival 2026 in New Delhi, further strengthening the state’s presence on the national cultural stage.

Bastar’s Transformation Reflected in Youth Participation
Highlighting social transformation in Left Wing Extremism–affected regions, CM Sai noted that over 1.65 lakh youth participated in the Bastar Olympics, reflecting growing peace, confidence and aspiration among tribal youth.
“This massive participation shows that Chhattisgarh is rapidly moving towards peace, development and positive change. Tribal regions hold immense sporting potential, and the government is committed to identifying and nurturing this talent,” he said.
Leaders Emphasise Youth-Centric Development
Union Minister of State Shri Tokhan Sahu said youth creativity and innovation are driving India’s progress, and both the Centre and state governments are working in tandem to secure a brighter future for young citizens.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao announced plans to organise Olympic-level sports events in the Surguja region, while Deputy CM Shri Vijay Sharma highlighted the growing national recognition of youth from tribal areas, especially Bastar.
