UPSRTC to operate maximum possible buses from August 26 to 31; additional staff deployed at major bus stations

Lucknow (Economy India): The Uttar Pradesh government has made extensive arrangements to facilitate free bus travel for women on Raksha Bandhan, while also preparing for a significant increase in passenger traffic during the festival.

The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has planned to operate the maximum possible number of buses for six days from August 26 to August 31 to meet the expected surge in demand.

According to an official statement, additional employees and supervisors have been deployed at major bus stations to ensure passengers receive smooth, safe and convenient transportation services during the festive period.

Special Arrangements for Raksha Bandhan

Raksha Bandhan is expected to result in a substantial increase in passenger movement across Uttar Pradesh, particularly as women travel to meet their brothers and families.

Keeping the anticipated rush in mind, the state transport corporation has made arrangements to increase bus operations during the six-day period.

The objective is to ensure that passengers do not face difficulties due to overcrowding and that adequate transport services remain available on major routes.

Free Bus Travel Facility for Women

A key feature of the arrangements is the provision of free bus travel for women on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

The initiative is aimed at making it easier for women to travel to their families during the festival while reducing the financial burden associated with transportation.

With a large number of women expected to travel during the festival, the transport department has been instructed to ensure adequate bus availability.

Maximum Possible Buses to Be Operated

The UPSRTC will operate the maximum possible number of buses between August 26 and 31 to accommodate the expected increase in passenger demand.

Additional services are particularly important on routes connecting major cities, towns and rural areas, where passenger movement is expected to rise significantly around Raksha Bandhan.

The extended operations are intended to reduce waiting times and help passengers reach their destinations safely.

Additional Staff Deployed at Bus Stations

The transport corporation has also deployed additional employees and supervisors at major bus stations.

Their responsibility will include monitoring passenger movement, coordinating bus operations and helping address problems that may arise during the rush.

The presence of additional supervisory staff is expected to improve coordination and ensure that buses are operated according to passenger demand.

Focus on Safe and Smooth Travel

The arrangements are not limited to increasing the number of buses. Authorities are also focusing on providing passengers with a safe and hassle-free travel experience.

Supervisors and other personnel will monitor operations at important bus stations and assist passengers during periods of heavy crowding.

The transport department is seeking to maintain smooth movement of buses and minimise inconvenience for passengers.

Managing Festival-Season Passenger Rush

Festivals often result in a sharp rise in demand for public transportation. Raksha Bandhan is particularly associated with family travel, with people travelling between cities, towns and villages to celebrate the occasion with relatives.

For a state as geographically large and densely populated as Uttar Pradesh, managing such a seasonal increase in public transport demand requires additional services and personnel.

The six-day special arrangement is therefore designed to ensure that the transport network can handle the additional passenger load.

Transport Corporation Strengthens Preparedness

The deployment of additional staff reflects the transport corporation’s efforts to strengthen preparedness ahead of the festival.

By increasing bus operations and placing more personnel at key locations, the authorities aim to respond quickly to changing passenger demand.

The measures are also expected to help passengers receive information and assistance at major bus stations during the busy travel period.

Importance for Women Travellers

The free travel facility is expected to particularly benefit women travelling over Raksha Bandhan.

For many families, public transport is an important and affordable means of inter-city and inter-district travel. Free bus services can make festival travel more accessible while encouraging women to use state-operated public transport.

The initiative also highlights the role of public transportation in supporting mobility during major festivals.
