EconomyIndia: The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, has been awarded the prestigious Navratna status by the Ministry of Finance on August 30, 2024.
After completing 13 years since its inception, SECI has emerged as a leading CPSE dedicated to the development and expansion of renewable energy capacity in India. The corporation boasts a cumulative production capacity of 69.25 GW and an annual power trading volume exceeding 42 billion units. SECI is India’s premier Renewable Energy Implementation Agency (REIA), committed to achieving climate goals and promoting sustainable development.
In the financial year 2023-24, SECI recorded a consolidated annual turnover of ₹13,118.68 crore, reflecting a 20.85% increase from the previous year. The company also registered a 34.89% growth in profit after tax (PAT), amounting to ₹510.92 crore.
The classification as a Navratna CPSE will grant SECI increased autonomy in financial and operational matters, accelerating its growth trajectory with enhanced agility, broader geographical presence, and a stronger focus on technology. This achievement further underscores the government’s commitment to India’s transition towards sustainable energy.
