United Way of Baroda in collaboration with World Disability Celebration Committee and Social Defence office organised Seminars and Cultural Program for the 63rd Celebration of World Disability Week
Vadodara: World Disability Day has been celebrated globally every year with a motive to spread the awareness of the situations of any individuals having disabilities in the facets of political, social, economic and cultural life. Also, this day is the advocacy of the rights and well-being of people who are physically challenged at every stage of society.
United Way of Baroda has been supporting local NGOs who are working for the people with disability since more than two decades. On 63rd World Disability Day,United Way of Baroda in collaboration with World Disability Celebration Committee and Social Defence office organised World Disability Week Celebration from 3rd December to 7th December 2021 with 30 NGO Partners working with persons with disability.
Seminars were organised on the Legal Awareness Program, Awareness of Cyber Crime & Security, Amendments of the Disability Act 2016, Schemes of Social Defence Department and National Trust Act. Concluding Event had a cultural evening performed by the differently abled children.
Vishal Gadhavi- Hon. Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Vadodaragraced the event. Expert Special Educator Mr. Mitesh Solanki- explained the benefits of the Amendments of the Disability Act, 2016. Mr. Mayank Trivedi- District Social Defence Officer shared important information of various Schemes of Social Defence Department and Mr. Bhagirathsinh Chudasama- Chief Officer, Office of the DSDO described the aspects on National Trust Act, 1999.
On the topic of Cyber Crime and Cyber Security, Mayur Bhusavalkar- Cyber Expert, Inter Crime Investigator shared the information in a very lucid manner. Mrs. Tejal Patel- Assistant Police Commissioneralsograced the event and shared the audience to be careful while downloading the applications.
The Cultural Program was graced by Shri Kuldeepsinh Jhala-Honourable Additional Collector; Vadodaraand 34 NGO Partners were honoured with a Memento and information booklet containing Rights of Persons with Disability Act, 2016. Special Children from 11 NGOsenthusiastically participated by performing a Group dance, Group singing, Tabla, Mime Show and many more.
Guests of Honour for the World Disability Week Celebration were the Trustees of United Way of Baroda Minesh Patel, Hemant Shah, UWB CEO Dr. Binita Verdia, President of World Disability Celebration Committee Mr. Rikesh Desai, President of Federation of Gujarat Industries Mr. Abhishek Gangwal, VP of Vadodara Chamber of Commerce & Industries and Dignitaries from other CSR Partner Companies.
World Disability Committee and Social Defence Office conveyed their heartfelt gratitude towards United Way of Barodafor supporting the World Disability Week Celebration and look forward for such continuous support from United Way of Baroda.
