Gurugram (Economy India): Today, whenever we discuss environment, there is a common concern across the globe around it: how to protect it from further damage? Now more than ever, our planet needs us to step up and take action towards cleaning up many of the messes we have made through irresponsibility. Water, air, and land are essential parts to maintain the ecosystem balance. And trees contribute directly to the environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, climate amelioration, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife. Keeping this in mind, M3M Foundation undertook a plantation drive at Darbaripur hill in Gurugram. Saplings, including Neem, Jamun, Banyan, Sahut and Peepal were planted.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was also signed with the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG under the ‘Sankalp’ programme. As per the agreement, M3M Foundation will also renovate a pond located at Palda, and will plant various types of shrubs and trees to make Darbaripur hill area a Biodiversity Park.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Payal Kanodia, Trustee, M3M Foundation said, “With the signing of MoU with MCG, we are committed to make Gurugram green. Under the ‘Sankalp’ programme, the Foundation will take forward the plantation drive. The Foundation has undertaken several programmes to bring about socio-economic change in rural India and as a responsible organisation, we strive to take forward all efforts to address the environmental problems and challenges of climate change.”

A local citizen commented, “Shady trees like Neem, Peepal, Jamun, Banyan are being planted by M3M Foundation which will help in keeping the environment right. I am very happy to be involved in this campaign. It is also necessary to provide shade to the animals and birds along with the people. The scorching heat which we are experiencing today can be reduced by planting more trees and plants. I thank M3M Foundation for this initiative.”

On the other hand M3M Foundation is also working on saving water and other issues related to it. Currently, India’s position in carbon emissions is the best, which the world community is also compelled to accept and this has been possible due to the efforts of our PM Narendra Modi in spreading awareness among the common people.
