About the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team
Formed in 1996, the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team represents the prowess, professionalism, and skill of the Indian Air Force. It remains Asia’s only nine-aircraft aerobatic display team, a testament to India’s advanced aviation capabilities and meticulous training standards.
Initially flying the HJT-16 Kiran Mk-II aircraft, the team transitioned in 2015 to the HAL Hawk Mk-132 Advanced Jet Trainer, marking a significant leap towards Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) through indigenous technology.
Global Recognition and Over 700 Performances
Over the past three decades, Suryakiran has conducted more than 700 performances across India and abroad, dazzling audiences in Sri Lanka, the UAE, Singapore, the UK, and Thailand. The team has participated in major global events, including the Singapore Air Show, Dubai Air Show, and Royal Thai Air Force’s 88th Anniversary, earning admiration for India’s aviation excellence.
In 2023, the Suryakiran team performed at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium during the Cricket World Cup, captivating millions with a fusion of sport, national pride, and aerial artistry.
