Mumbai | October 24, 2025 – Economy India News Desk: Bollywood singer and music composer Sachin Sanghvi, known for his popular tracks in films such as Stree 2 and Bhediya, has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a woman under the pretext of offering her an opportunity in a music album and promising marriage.
According to police officials, Sanghvi was taken into custody on Thursday under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The alleged victim had filed a complaint accusing the composer of exploiting her emotionally and physically after luring her with false promises related to her career in the music industry.
Details of the Allegation
As per the complaint, the woman met Sanghvi through a professional contact, where he assured her of a chance to feature in his upcoming music project. Over time, he allegedly gained her trust and promised to marry her, only to later retract his commitments. The woman has accused him of sexual exploitation and deceit.
Police Statement
A senior officer from the Mumbai Police confirmed the arrest, stating, “We have registered a case against Sachin Sanghvi under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. He was arrested on Thursday and produced before the court.”
Authorities have initiated an investigation to gather further evidence and record statements. The complainant has also undergone a medical examination as part of the inquiry.
Industry Reaction
The arrest has sparked shock within the Bollywood fraternity, as Sanghvi — one half of the acclaimed composer duo Sachin-Jigar — is widely respected for his contributions to Indian film music. The duo is known for delivering chart-topping tracks like “Apna Bana Le”, “Mileya Mileya”, and “Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin.”
While no official statement has been issued by Sanghvi or his representatives, sources close to the composer have suggested that he plans to contest the allegations legally.

Legal Proceedings Ahead
Police have confirmed that further questioning and verification of digital evidence will be conducted in the coming days. If convicted, Sanghvi could face severe punishment under sexual assault and criminal misrepresentation laws.
