New Delhi (Economy India ): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the distribution ceremony of over 51,000 appointment letters under the Rozgar Mela, emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to provide stable, transparent, and merit-based employment to the youth. He reaffirmed his administration’s identity of “No Sifarish, No Kharch” (No recommendations, no expenses) in recruitment to central government jobs.

So far, lakhs of young citizens have received permanent jobs through such employment fairs. The newly appointed employees, PM Modi said, are becoming active contributors to nation-building across vital sectors such as Railways, Defence, Postal Services, Healthcare, Financial Inclusion, and Industrial Development.

Youth: India’s Demographic Dividend and Democratic Strength

PM Modi highlighted that India possesses two unmatched strengths—demography and democracy. With the world’s largest youth population and the vibrancy of its democratic institutions, India’s future rests firmly on this combination. His recent multi-nation foreign visits, he said, echoed global confidence in India’s youth power, especially across emerging sectors such as defence, digital technology, pharma, and rare earth minerals.

Transforming the Job Landscape

The Prime Minister noted that jobs in the 21st century are rapidly evolving, and the government is actively adapting by launching policies suited to the modern economy. India’s robust startup and innovation ecosystem, coupled with initiatives like iGOT Karmayogi and support for research and manufacturing, are creating new opportunities for millions.

He cited the newly approved Employment Linked Incentive Scheme, under which the government will contribute ₹15,000 to first-time employees in the private sector, with a budget of ₹1 lakh crore, aiming to generate 3.5 crore jobs.

Manufacturing Boom and Job Growth

Highlighting India’s progress in manufacturing, PM Modi mentioned the exponential growth in electronics production—now worth over ₹11 lakh crore—and the emergence of nearly 300 mobile phone manufacturing units, compared to just 2–4 earlier. The PLI Scheme alone has created over 11 lakh jobs.

India is also becoming a global leader in defence manufacturing, locomotive production, and automobile exports, with record FDI inflows and booming demand.

From Villages to Urban Streets: Employment Rooted in Welfare

The Prime Minister shed light on how welfare schemes are catalyzing job creation:

  • 4 crore homes built under PM Awas Yojana
  • 12 crore toilets constructed
  • 10 crore LPG connections distributed through Ujjwala Yojana
  • Drone Didi initiative training rural women as certified drone pilots
  • PM Vishwakarma Yojana modernizing traditional skills and artisan trades

These schemes, he said, not only uplift the poor but also generate millions of jobs, especially in rural areas.

Empowering Women & Informal Workers

Over 1.5 crore women have become ‘Lakhpati Didis’, earning more than ₹1 lakh annually. The PM SVANidhi Yojana has empowered street vendors through easy credit and digital integration, transforming their economic standing and bringing them into the formal economy.

India’s Economic Rise Backed by Youth Resolve

PM Modi credited India’s climb toward becoming the world’s third-largest economy to the resolve, hard work, and ambition of its youth. Referring to a recent ILO report, he stated that 90 crore citizens have been brought under the social security net in the last decade, enabling inclusive growth and stability.

Importantly, 25 crore people have successfully risen out of poverty in the past 10 years—an achievement PM Modi attributed to targeted welfare schemes and expanded employment.

A Call for Dedicated Public Service

In his closing remarks, PM Modi urged the newly appointed employees to uphold the spirit of Citizen First and embrace their role in the nation’s development during this crucial Amrit Kaal phase.

“Your progress is the nation’s pride. The dreams you fulfill will define the future of a Viksit Bharat,” he concluded.
