NBFID brings infrastructure financing stakeholders together in Mumbai to explore ways to strengthen funding and mobilise domestic and global long-term capital.

MUMBAI (Economy India): The National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NBFID) hosted the Infrastructure Conclave 2026 in Mumbai, bringing together key stakeholders from across India’s infrastructure financing ecosystem to discuss ways to strengthen funding and mobilise long-term domestic and global capital.

The conclave focused on the evolving requirements of infrastructure financing and the need to develop deeper and more sustainable sources of capital for India’s long-term infrastructure development.

Discussions centred on strengthening the financing architecture for infrastructure projects and creating greater opportunities for domestic and international investors to participate in India’s infrastructure growth.

Infrastructure projects typically require substantial upfront investment and long repayment periods, making access to stable, long-term financing a critical component of sustainable infrastructure development.

Mobilising Domestic and Global Capital

A key focus of the conclave was the mobilisation of domestic and global long-term capital for infrastructure.

The discussions explored avenues through which financial institutions and other stakeholders can work together to broaden the pool of capital available to infrastructure projects.

Greater participation from long-term investors can help diversify funding sources and complement traditional channels of infrastructure finance.

Strengthening the Infrastructure Financing Ecosystem

The conclave also provided a platform for stakeholders to exchange views on the opportunities and challenges facing India’s infrastructure financing ecosystem.

With infrastructure investment spanning sectors such as transport, energy, urban development and other critical economic infrastructure, the availability of appropriately structured long-term finance remains important for supporting project development.

NBFID’s engagement with stakeholders reflects the institution’s focus on facilitating a stronger financing ecosystem for infrastructure and supporting the mobilisation of capital for long-term development.

Infrastructure Investment and India’s Growth Agenda

India’s infrastructure requirements continue to create opportunities for financial institutions, investors and project developers. Mobilising adequate long-term capital is essential for translating infrastructure investment plans into projects while maintaining financial sustainability.

The Infrastructure Conclave 2026 served as a platform for stakeholders to deliberate on financing solutions and potential avenues to expand the flow of capital into India’s infrastructure sector.
