Mumbai ( Economy India ): Two teenagers tragically lost their lives after accidentally falling into a water-filled quarry in Mumbai’s Dahisar area on Saturday morning, civic officials said.

The incident took place around 10:30 a.m. at Shaikh Khadan in Ketki Pada, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP).

Rescue Operation

According to officials from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, the teenagers fell into a quarry filled with water, estimated to be 10 to 15 feet deep. Emergency rescue teams rushed to the spot and pulled both victims out of the water.

Investigation Underway

Police have registered an accidental death case and are investigating the circumstances that led to the incident. Officials are also examining whether adequate safety measures and warning signs were in place around the abandoned quarry.

Safety Concerns

The incident has once again highlighted the dangers posed by water-filled quarries during the monsoon season. Authorities have urged residents, especially children and teenagers, to stay away from abandoned quarries, lakes, and other deep water bodies, as they can become extremely hazardous after heavy rainfall.

Conclusion

The tragic deaths of the two teenagers have shocked the local community in Dahisar. Authorities continue to investigate the incident while appealing to the public to exercise caution around water-filled quarries during the monsoon.
