Raipur | Economy India: The Central Government’s Lakhpati Didi Yojana is changing lives of rural women by promoting self-reliance and economic empowerment. A shining example of this transformation is Smt. Gayatri Yadav from Otebandha village in Ambagarh Chowki block, who has become financially independent by running an E-Rickshaw.
From Struggle to Self-Reliance
Gayatri Yadav, a member of Jai Maa Rani Durgawati Self-Help Group under the State Rural Livelihood Mission, decided to invest in an e-rickshaw with the support of her husband. What started as a bold step soon became her source of stability. Today, she is not only providing transport services but also ensuring a steady monthly income of ₹8,000–₹10,000.

A Journey Towards Empowerment
- With earnings from her e-rickshaw, Gayatri is able to fund her children’s education.
- The initiative has significantly improved her family’s access to healthcare and social well-being.
- She is now regarded as a role model in her community, inspiring many women to embrace self-employment.
Support from the Scheme
Gayatri credits the Lakhpati Didi Yojana and government support for her success.
She received:
- Financial assistance through SHG-linked loans.
- Training and guidance in entrepreneurship.
- Encouragement from the administration, which helped her set up her own small-scale business.
Inspiring Many Women
Recalling her earlier struggles when her family survived solely on agriculture and daily wage labor, Gayatri says the scheme gave her the confidence to dream bigger. Today, she proudly contributes to her family’s income and stands as an inspiration to other women in rural areas.
She expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai for implementing women-centric welfare schemes that truly empower rural households.
