Raipur | The Chhattisgarh government has suspended DSP Kalpana Verma following serious allegations of financial misconduct and the alleged leakage of sensitive intelligence inputs. The action comes after a complaint filed by businessman Deepak Tandon, accusing the officer of misusing her position and compromising internal security.
According to official sources, the suspension was ordered after a preliminary inquiry found the allegations serious enough to warrant disciplinary action. During the suspension period, DSP Verma’s headquarters will remain at the Police Headquarters or another location designated by the government, and she will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per service rules.

Allegations Trigger Government Action
Businessman Deepak Tandon had alleged that DSP Verma trapped him in a personal relationship and extorted large sums of money and expensive gifts. More critically, he accused her of sharing confidential police and intelligence-related information, including details linked to Naxal activities.
Following the complaint, the Home Department initiated a detailed probe, which was completed around two weeks ago.
1,400-Page Inquiry Report Submitted
The inquiry was conducted by a team led by ASP Kirtan Rathore, which submitted a nearly 1,400-page report to the Home Department after a 30-day investigation. Sources familiar with the report claim that it contains evidence suggesting financial transactions, receipt of costly gifts, and exchanges of sensitive information through digital platforms.
The findings reportedly played a key role in the government’s decision to place the officer under suspension pending further proceedings.
WhatsApp Chats Under Scrutiny
The inquiry report makes specific reference to WhatsApp conversations between DSP Kalpana Verma and the complainant. These chats allegedly include references to confidential police inputs, including information related to Naxal movements, deployment of security forces, and operational details.
While official confirmation on the exact contents of the chats has not been made public, sources indicate that the matter has been treated as highly sensitive and reviewed at senior levels of the administration.
Security Implications Raise Serious Concerns
Security experts have expressed concern that any leakage of intelligence related to internal security operations could pose a serious threat to state and personnel safety. Such actions, if proven, could fall under grave violations of service conduct rules and criminal law.
Officials have maintained that further action will depend on the outcome of departmental proceedings and any additional evidence that emerges during the investigation.
Case Still Under Process
Authorities have clarified that the suspension is a procedural step and that a final decision will be taken only after due process. The government has not issued any statement on potential criminal charges at this stage.
The case has drawn significant attention within administrative and security circles, given its implications for police integrity and internal security protocols in the state.
