Strict Directives on Housing Deadlines, Curbing Gambling, Drugs, and Cattle Smuggling
Raipur I Economy India: Durg district in-charge minister and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma has directed officials to actively encourage innovation across departments, ensuring that quality and achievements speak for themselves without the need for extra formalities.
Chairing the district-level departmental review meeting at the Public Works Department office in Durg, Mr. Sharma stressed that letters and suggestions from local representatives must be taken seriously as they reflect the ground reality and public needs.
Focus on Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme
The Deputy CM ordered that all houses approved under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) be completed within the stipulated timelines, with special emphasis on quality. He suggested joint inspections of completed houses by district panchayat officials, college students, legislators, and representatives of social organisations to gather direct feedback from beneficiaries.
Waste Management and Cow Shelter Initiatives
Mr. Sharma directed the preparation of waste disposal proposals for urban bodies based on suggestions from public representatives, and called for coordinated action between the forest and animal husbandry departments to establish cow sanctuaries in designated areas.

Crackdown on Social Evils
Highlighting the growing menace of gambling, drug abuse, and cattle smuggling, the Deputy CM ordered strict action and public awareness campaigns in collaboration with panchayats, social welfare agencies, women & child development departments, and NGOs. He also stressed vigilance against illegal infiltrators and tougher measures to counter them.
Cybercrime Awareness in Schools and Colleges
Mr. Sharma instructed that schools, colleges, and social groups should be actively involved in spreading awareness about cybercrime.
Revenue Case Disposal and Camps
The Deputy CM emphasised resolving undisputed revenue cases at the panchayat level and organising revenue camps in RI circles to address pending cases.
Sector-wise Directives
- Health Department – Focus on the Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana.
- Agriculture Department – Ensure all farmers benefit from the PM Crop Insurance Scheme and promote oilseed and pulse cultivation.
- Animal Husbandry Department – Strengthen mobile veterinary services for quick animal treatment.
Infrastructure and Water Supply Projects
Mr. Sharma stressed the importance of quality in construction works and directed that under the Jal Jeevan Mission, completed CC road projects in gram panchayats should be formally handed over to the panchayat for maintenance.
Key Achievements in Durg District
- Housing: 28,476 houses completed; 1,764 soak pits built by beneficiaries themselves.
- Tree Plantation: 1,00,411 saplings planted under “One Tree in Mother’s Name” initiative.
- Digital Access: 16 Atal Digital Seva Kendras under construction; 72 utensil banks operational.
- Healthcare: 14.97 lakh beneficiaries registered under Ayushman Bharat PMJAY; 27,366 registered for Vaya Vandana Yojana; 2,148 high-risk pregnant women benefitted from online consultations; 47 Jan Aushadhi Kendras operating.
- Land Records: Survey completed in 381 villages; geo-referencing done for 339 villages under Swamitva Scheme.
- Solar Energy: 3,854 registrations under PM Sury Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana; 804 solar panels installed.
Review of Past Meeting and Legislators’ Suggestions
The meeting began with a review of previous action items and saw the participation of MLAs Lalit Chandrakar, Gajendra Yadav, Rakesh Sen, and Ishwar Sahu, along with senior public representatives and officials including District Collector Abhijeet Singh, SSP Vijay Agrawal, and ADM Virendra Singh.
