Over 30,000 Native Trees Planted in Two Years; 10,000 More to Be Added This Monsoon
Mumbai (Economy India): Rustomjee Group, one of Mumbai’s leading real estate developers, has launched the latest edition of its Go Green Kasara 2026 initiative in partnership with CREDAI, further strengthening its long-term environmental commitment under Mission 50,000.
As part of the 2026 campaign, the Group plans to plant 10,000 native trees in the Kasara region during the ongoing monsoon season. The initiative will bring the total number of native trees planted under Mission 50,000 closer to its long-term target of nurturing 50,000 thriving trees across the region.
More Than 30,000 Native Trees Planted
Over the past two years, Go Green Kasara has developed into a community-led environmental initiative, bringing together customers, employees, local communities, NGOs, environmental partners and volunteers.
Together, participants have planted more than 30,000 native trees in and around Kasara. The addition of another 10,000 saplings during the 2026 monsoon season is expected to significantly accelerate the Group’s afforestation efforts.
The initiative focuses on native species that can support the local ecosystem while contributing to the creation of greener and more sustainable communities.
Miyawaki Plantations Added to Go Green Kasara 2026
A key feature of this year’s campaign is the introduction of Miyawaki plantations, an afforestation technique designed to create dense, diverse and self-sustaining green spaces using native plant species.
The approach can help establish vegetation in a relatively compact area while encouraging biodiversity and strengthening local green cover.
By incorporating Miyawaki plantations into Go Green Kasara 2026, Rustomjee Group aims to further diversify its afforestation efforts and create environmentally resilient green spaces in the Kasara region.
Community Participation at the Core
Go Green Kasara 2026 also places greater emphasis on community participation through weekend plantation drives.
The initiative encourages residents, employees, customers, volunteers and other stakeholders to participate directly in tree plantation activities. Such community-driven efforts are intended to make environmental conservation a collective responsibility rather than a one-time activity.
The weekend plantation drives will provide participants with an opportunity to contribute to the Mission 50,000 goal while developing a stronger connection with the local environment.
Mission 50,000: A Long-Term Afforestation Commitment
The latest phase of Go Green Kasara forms part of Rustomjee Group’s broader sustainability efforts through Mission 50,000.
With more than 30,000 native trees already planted over the last two years and another 10,000 targeted this monsoon, the initiative is moving closer to its goal of nurturing 50,000 trees in Kasara.
The campaign highlights the growing role of community participation and private-sector initiatives in supporting local afforestation and environmental sustainability.
Focus on Sustainable Communities
For the real estate sector, sustainability is increasingly becoming an important component of long-term community development. Initiatives such as Go Green Kasara demonstrate how environmental programmes can be integrated with community engagement and regional development.
Through Mission 50,000, Rustomjee Group is seeking to build a sustained environmental movement around Kasara, with native trees, community participation and innovative plantation techniques forming the core of its approach.
As the 2026 monsoon plantation campaign progresses, the Group aims to bring more stakeholders into the initiative and move closer to its target of 50,000 thriving trees in the Kasara region.
